Jeff Neal, a former guard for the Houston Oilers and Birmingham Barracudas, spoke to the middle school and high school students today. He is a speaker for Sports World and brought to the schools by Sarah Bush Lincoln's Healthy Choice Program.
Jeff said he enjoys speaking to the youth in order to help them make good choices. He said, "In life it doesn't matter how you start, it's how you finish." Jeff told students about his dream of playing football in college and the NFL. He said others always told him he was too small and skinny to play. He worked hard over the next few years to make himself better and was able to achieve his goals and play at the next level.
Jeff offered three pieces of advice to the students. He said to set their goals and standards high and don't let anyone or anything stop you. He said to be the best student you can be, and that the people you hang out with and the voices you listen to will impact the choices you make. He reminded the students that their words had power and to choose them wisely.
Students listened to his message attentively and took in his powerful message. After, students were able to meet Jeff and receive a Jeff Neal trading card. Thank you to SBL for bringing Jeff Neal to our schools. If you would like to read more about the Sports World Organization, visit sportsworld.org.
