Cumberland CUSD #77 Student Meal Plan: Cumberland CUSD #77 will be distributing a grab and go breakfast and lunch this Wednesday, March 18 at 11:00am to 1:00pm for any Cumberland student. We will continue to provide these meals as long as we are allowed to safely do so. Meal pickup locations and times are as follows: *Greenup- Casey’s General Store - 11:00-1:00 *Toledo- Casey’s General Store - 11:00-1:00 *Jewett Community Church - 11:00-1:00 We would really like the student to be present during the distribution of the meal. Once again, we will continue to provide these meals for each day of the closure as long as we are allowed to safely do so. I will update everyone through a school Facebook post and Alertnow automated phone call on the distribution of future meals. Todd Butler, Superintendent

Hi this is Todd Butler, Superintendent of Cumberland CUSD #77. This message is for the Cumberland students, parents/guardians, community, and staff. Due to today's announcement with Cumberland County officials proclaiming a state of emergency existing countywide, we have to cancel school a day earlier than originally planned. Cumberland schools will be canceled Monday, March 16th. This closure along with the Governor's mandatory closure will end March 30th. School will resume Tuesday, March 31st unless there is an extension from the government officials. We absolutely understand the ripple effect that this school closing will have on our families, community, economy, and most importantly our students. We have a remote home based learning plan in place so a level of learning can continue. I know for certain that remote home based learning will not be as effective as lessons provided at school in classrooms by our teachers. It is a plan that we will evaluate and revise as needed, and will be ready to implement in similar situations, weather related, or emergency closings in the future. It is our hope that your student will complete the home based learning plans. The goal and objective of this plan is to keep students thinking, learning, and in a school mindset. The lessons will be provided online, or for the students that do not have home internet access or reliable home internet, a paper and pencil packet will be available. Our elementary students will be working with the pencil and paper copies with some internet options, while most students in middle school and high school will receive assignments sent to their school email if they have internet access at home. Digital copies can be submitted to the students’ teachers upon their completion while paper and pencil copies will be completed and returned to the teachers on Tuesday, March 31st. Our plan was to distribute the packets while the students were at school on Monday. However, this is no longer a possibility, on Monday, March 16th, the district will be having an all staff inservice from 8:00 to 1:00pm. The buildings will be open from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, so any student who needs items from his/her locker may get those at this time. Elementary students should pick their lesson packets in the grade school cafeteria, middle school students needing paper pencil packets will pick up their lessons at the new gym entrance, high school students needing paper copies should pick those up in Mr. Maynard’s office. If you or your child have questions with his/her home based lessons please email his/her teachers between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. If you as a parent have questions about the home based learning plan please email me at tbutler@cumberland.k12.il.us. This is a very fluid, fast changing, difficult time for everyone. Please be patient and remain positive because together we will get through this time, stronger than ever before.

We need your help! Please take time to complete this brief survey as soon as possible. Your feedback helps guide our decisions, evaluate our current practices and reflect on what we are doing well and/or areas of needed improvement. We must have a certain number of parents complete the survey for our ranking to be valid. Again, please take time to complete this as soon as possible for each child you have in our schools. We appreciate your time and input! http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
