We are excited to have a second Shoe Tree distribution for our students this year. The normal Shoe Tree Fall distribution is still being planned for the 24-25 school year. A form will be sent out in May for that Shoe Tree.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, complete this form for qualifying students, Pre K-8th grade, to receive a free pair of shoes. Shoes will be distributed by the school in mid-February. Please complete this form by January 19, 2024.

Students in FACS classes donated money to purchase Christmas gifts for children who live in foster homes. Mrs. Thomas purchased ingredients for S'mores & students could pay to make one after they finished their final exam. All the money that was collected was used for the toys.

On January 5th the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) will recognize Cumberland High School as one of the few consolidated high schools that have surpassed the 1000 win mark for boys basketball. We would like to invite all past/present players, coaches, and fans to attend this event that will take place between the JV and Varsity games that evening.
Also, following this announcement we will recognize winter senior participates and their parents.

It was too warm for real snow last week, so Mrs. Roedl's students made some fake snow to play in!
Next week, the elementary and middle schools will have a Holiday Spirit Week! These are optional activities.
Ms. Williamson's first grade class wrote kind notes to each other today. Then, they placed the note in the student’s handmade stocking!

This past Friday, the Middle School Kindness Ambassadors cleaned all the caps that were collected. Now, the caps go to a company to be recycled into a bench. This bench will be placed at the grade school in memory of Mike Oakley. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the cap collection!

Mrs. Nichols and her Kindergarten music class were Christmas caroling this afternoon! They sang “Jingle Bells” for several groups around the school!
Mrs. Smyser’s third grade class is exploring economics this month with a project-based learning activity. They are creating a Christmas tree farm as their business project. Today, the class called the Cumberland Courthouse to ask questions about what it takes to get a business license.
Mrs. Young’s third graders celebrated Grinch Day today! Wearing their Grinch green, they created a variety of ornaments for their Christmas tree at the Sumpter Township Library. Make sure to stop by and check out their tree! Voting starts tomorrow!
