Congratulations to the creators of the Strawberry Shortcake display on being named the overall winners of Foods III Cupcake Wars!


The Foods III students participated in their own version of Cupcake Wars! They made homemade cupcakes from a recipe they selected, decorated them to go along with their theme, and designed and built a display. The CHS students and staff will vote today to select a winner!











There has been a change to the girls Varsity and boys F/S basketball schedules on December 9. The F/S game vs. Okaw Valley will be played at Cumberland High School starting at 6:00 PM. The girls Varsity game vs. ALAH will be played at Cumberland immediately following the F/S game at approximately 7:30 PM.

The Lady Pirate Softball team is hosting a dodgeball tournament on January 25 from 1-4 PM in the middle school gyms. Entry fees: Students $8, Adults $10, and Teams $75. Thanksgiving break begins next week! School will dismiss at 2:09 on Tuesday, November 26. There is no school from November 27-29. School will resume on Monday, December 2. We hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving!


Picture Retake Day is Monday, November 25. This day is for students who need to be re-photographed and students who missed the original Picture Day. Ms. Steber's biology class is studying cell specializations and made posters to illustrate the key functions and adaptations of particular cells.





Pirate Night is set for Friday, November 22, at 7:30 PM. The cost of admission is a nonperishable item for the TCC Food Pantry and/or a donation to the Cumberland Varsity Club.


Mrs. Thomas's Foods III classes used the theme of fall foods for baking recently! Each kitchen group selected their own recipes that contained the flavors of fall. Ingredients selected included pumpkin, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and maple. They created a pumpkin roll, pumpkin cheesecake balls, pumpkin French toast, apple pies, and maple cookies!








Ms. Steber's Earth Science classes recently completed a unit on space. They were given the Sun or a planet to study. Groups completed research reports on their piece of the solar system and then created models from paper mache making them as accurate as possible.

Cumberland High School students in the science club and physics classes participated in the second annual Robinson Engineering Competition on November 11. The JV team won first place overall! The teams participated in five events: Flying Machine, Weight-Propelled Car, Torsion Catapult, Toothpick Bridge and the Mystery Build.
The varsity team (physics) earned 7th and 8th place in the catapult (Levi Ray, Camden James, and Rylan James) and 4th place in the flying machine (Derrick Oakley).
The JV team (science club) earned 1st in the Flying Machine (Jonah Tibbs), 1st in the Toothpick Bridge (Isaac Venatta), and 1st in the Mystery Build (Jonah Tibbs, Isaac Venatta, Levi Ray, and Camden James).


The Foods III students made omelets with various savory ingredients; like cheese, bacon, mushrooms, onions, and green peppers!





Come out and support the high school Cross Country team as they head to IHSA State Friday morning. They will leave the school with a firetruck escort at 8 AM. They will go around the square in Toledo before they head out of town.
Runners will compete at Detweiller Park in Peoria on Saturday, November 9, at 10 AM. Good luck to all of the runners!!


Ms. Steber's physical science students built models of chemical compounds to help them understand their structure and how this translates to their chemical formulas!

The Foods I students made Macaroni and Cheese! They made a white sauce and then added two kinds of cheese to it. It was hard work to stir for so long!
