Seniors in Speech class practiced their digital communications skills by maintaining a mock YouTube channel throughout the semester. Today was share day. Emi taught the class how to do a cartwheel from her channel, “Tumbling Through Life,” and Kendra taught the class a dance from her channel, “K’s Favorite Choreo.”
Today was the ACES State competition at Eastern Illinois University. Michael Beaumont placed 4th in Biology, Mitchell Blade placed 2nd in Engineering Graphics and 3rd in Computer Science, Lillian Ryan placed 2nd in English and 5th in Mathematics, and Marshall Tipsword placed 5th in Physics. Congratulations!
The high school Art Club is hosting two more after-school art classes this semester. The classes are $20 each. There are only 10 spots left for each session, so sign up soon!
Prom tickets will go on sale beginning on Tuesday, April 11, during high school lunch. Tickets are $30 for Juniors and guests of Juniors/Seniors.

Ms. Voss hosted a March Madness bracket competition for the NCAA tournament. The winning class, Mr. Owen's 7th hour, got ice cream!

Cumberland High School will host the 2023 Prom at Richards Farm in Casey, Illinois on Saturday, April 22. Dinner will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by the coronation at 7:00 PM and the dance from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Today, the BIO 100 class took a trip to Prairie Ridge Nature Preserve (PRNP) to see the endangered Greater Prairie Chicken. There are only two Prairie Chicken populations in Illinois and PRNP houses the largest with almost 30 chickens (15 males and 12 females). Students observed the isolation behaviors of the Prairie Chicken and learned about the management techniques of the nature preserve.
The Cumberland softball game at Casey on Saturday, April 1, has been canceled.

The Foods II classes have been baking "poke" cakes this week. They tried four different recipes and each one turned out great. Yum!
