The Cumberland County CEO class is hosting Cars and Coffee on October 26 from 10 AM - 1 PM at Neoga High School. Admission is $5 (2 and under is free). Food trucks, a bounce house, and trivia will also be there! Come out and support the CEO class this year!

CHS held its annual Homecoming games yesterday. The Junior class came out on top this year! Tonight wraps up Homecoming week with Cumberland taking on Tri-County at 7 PM. Come out and support the Pirates to a victory!

Foods I students made homemade pancakes. They made the dry mix and added the liquid ingredients, including buttermilk. Cooking them without burning them proved to be a difficult task for some of the groups! They were delicious, though.





Students in Math Applications completed their small cardboard boat projects. They had to calculate the boat's volume to find water displacement and the sink line depth. Floating times and the accuracy of calculations were measured by testing how much weight each boat could hold before sinking. Up next, building a boat to float a classmate in a pool!






Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for October 22 and 24 from 4:00-6:30 PM.

Students in Mrs. Becker’s Interpersonal Communication class studied the Michelangelo Phenomenon that states significant others in our lives like best friends help us be our best selves. Then the friends sculpted something their friends helped them achieve.








Jostens will be at Cumberland High School on Tuesday, October 15, at 2:30 to talk to the senior class about graduation items and to provide information to the freshman class about class rings.

Students have been working on making a coaster in Mrs. Thomas's Orientation to FACS class. They selected and cut fabric. Then, they followed directions that required hand sewing for the final product. Each coaster is an individual piece of textile art!






The LPC Volleyball Tournament begins tonight. All of the Cumberland games will be played at Arthur.

There will be no school on Friday, 10/11, for Teacher Institute Day and no school on Monday, 10/14, for Columbus Day.

Seniors in Mr. Hall’s Civics classes held debates today to help them prepare for the Constitution test. Students chose sides based on statements about the Second Amendment. The students had great ideas and supported their points effectively.










Mrs. Lee’s geometry class is learning about conditionals. To apply the lesson, they read the book and then made their own.

The CHS Varsity Eco Team participated in the 47th annual eco meet at Camp Camfield in Sullivan. The Varsity team consists of Joanie Wallace (captain), Isaiah Winnett, Lauren Stevens, and Jonah Tibbs, and assisted by Gwen Dunn and Audrey Justice. The team placed first in all three topics: Illinois Butterflies, Sustainable Energy, and Illinois Mushrooms. They placed first overall out of 17 teams from area schools!

The high school Cross Country team ran at the Robinson Cork Classic. The boys placed first at the meet! Cameron Roedl ran 15:58 to finish in 1st place, Gavin Whitaker was 16th, Kaleb Bierman was 22nd, Riley Morgan was 24th, and Kade Bradley was 50th overall.
