This weekend, the high school Scholastic Bowl team placed 1st at the Masonic Sectional. In the championship round, they defeated Casey-Westfield 220-190. The team now advances to Masonic State at Bloomington High School on March 4. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Ty Bradley on signing his Letter of Intent to play football at Aurora University today!

Sawyer Keyser, a student in the woodworking program at CHS, built a base cabinet for a microwave in the FACS classroom with the assistance of Mr. Owens. The cabinet is functional yet beautiful, and it allows for additional storage space.


Last week, Biology 2 students worked on their pipetting skills in preparation for their biotechnology unit.





The CHS girls basketball team defeated Ramsey in the first round of the Regional Saturday. They advance to play CHBC at Neoga on Tuesday, Feb 14, at 7:30 PM.
Congratulations to Owen McGinnis and Noah Carl. They each placed 4th yesterday at the IHSA Wrestling Sectional and now advance to state tournament in Champaign on February 16-18! Good luck!!

The Cumberland High School Scholastic Bowl team placed 1st in LPC Tournament at Cerro Gordo. Their record for the season is 35 - 5. Their next tournament is on February 18 at the Masonic Sectional.

Congratulations to Natalie Beaumont on her 3rd place finish at the Peoria sectional. She's headed to the IHSA state meet!

Tonight is Senior Night at the high school basketball game. The seniors in winter sports will be recognized before the varsity game.

Happy National School Counseling Week! We are very lucky to have Sheila Plummer, HS counselor, Stefani Robinson, GS counselor, Ashley Voss, District counselor, and Betsy Ryan, District social worker, in our District. They each play an important role in helping our students, staff, and community. Thank you for all you do!


The CHS Art Club is offering art classes for students this semester. Their first art class will be on February 16, from 3-4 PM in the grade school cafeteria. Students can sign up for individual classes for $20 each or for the entire semester for $60. Registration closes the Tuesday before each class.

During their speech class last week, the seniors demonstrated relaxation techniques to make speech anxiety less overwhelming. Some of the techniques they taught were Tai Chi, Yoga, Deep Breathing, and Progressive Muscle Relaxation.
