The Junior class is selling raffle tickets to help offset the cost of their prom and graduation. The raffle will be held on April 19, .2024. You may go to any Junior student or Mr. Roedl to purchase tickets.
Tickets are $10 each and only 500 tickets will be sold. There will be 4 winners drawn. The winner does not have to be present to win.

Cultural Homestay International wants to bring high school exchange students to our area for an academic school year, and they are searching for families to host students for the 2024-2025 school year. The Cumberland National Honor Society is looking for donations of fleece to make tie blankets. These blankets will be donated to Project Linus, an organization that provides blankets to children who are ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. These blankets will be distributed to children in the Central Illinois area.
Donations can be sent with your child to school or can be dropped off at the high school office by April 9. Questions may be sent to Mrs. Becker at tbecker@cusd77.org.
Reminder: School will dismiss at 2:20 on Wednesday, March 27. Easter Break is from March 28 - April 1. School resumes on April 2.
The Dual Credit Speech students attended the LLC Communications Open House where they practiced recording ads, using a green screen, and speaking on the radio.
CHS students in Mrs. Lee's physical science class are learning about simple machines. The students were asked to build something with a lever and a fulcrum to launch a marshmallow. The students researched different styles of launchers before they began to build. The furthest marshmallow launched was 238 inches!
Advanced art students took a field trip to Indiana State University on March 21 where they received a demonstration of different wheel techniques. Students were able to throw several pieces and were invited back to participate in a raku fire in the summer. They also went to the Swope Art Museum, where they received a tour from the Director of Education.
The Foods II students made cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing this week. They were so good!
Cumberland is hosting the 31st Annual Boys Central Illinois All-Star Basketball Game featuring senior basketball players from the LPC and the NTC on Sunday, March 24. The 3-point contest begins at 6:05 PM and game tip-off is 6:30 PM.

Lake Land College is introducing the Recruitment and Advancement of the Next Generation of Engineers (RANGE) program. This program focuses on wrap-around supports to ensure students succeed at LLC and beyond. The program is open to high school seniors majoring in a STEM degree, and a $2100 scholarship will be awarded to participants. Students received an email today about the application process.
The softball game vs. SEB from 3/14 has been rescheduled to April 4. Varsity will start at 4:30 and there will be 3 JV innings after.
