Mrs. Lee's high school science class visited the second grade with the leprechaun traps they created. The science students had to use one simple machine while building the trap. The second grade set out the traps hoping to catch the tricky leprechaun. No Luck! He did leave them treats and Shamrock Shakes, though!
The Introduction to Industrial Arts and Math Applications classes are collaborating on a house design project for Mr. John Graves. Thursday, Mr. Graves spoke to the students about his involvement at school while teaching and described what he would like to have in his new house. Students brainstormed items needed in individual rooms and how those items could be elevated to meet size requirements. Students will draw plans to scale and make expense reports as the project progresses to meet the space and budget requirements.
Today, Kenley Carr and Jonah Tibbs competed at the ACES (Academic Challenge in Engineering and Science) Sectional at EIU. Kenley placed 2nd in Biology, and Jonah placed 3rd in Computer Science. Congratulations!!
Mrs. Thomas's Foods II students made yeast dinner rolls this week!!
The 31st Annual Boys Central Illinois All-Star Basketball Game featuring senior basketball players from the LPC and the NTC will be held on Sunday, March 24, at Cumberland High School. The 3-point contest begins at 6:05 PM and game tip-off is 6:30 PM.
Congratulations to the Cumberland High School Scholastic Bowl team for advancing to the IHSA State Tournament!!! The team competed on Saturday, March 9, at Sullivan High School. CHS went 3-0, defeating Stewardson-Strasburg, Villa Grove, and St. Anthony. The IHSA State Tournament will be held at Heartland Community College in Bloomington, IL, on Saturday, March 16. Matches will start at 10 am. Good Luck!!

Mrs. M. Blade’s Co-Op I class has studied vocational information and skills needed for different career options. Today, Kevin Buenker and Kaleb McElravy, representatives from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 841, spoke to the students about the apprenticeship and training opportunities in working for the Union.
