The CHS JV Scholastic Bowl team placed first yesterday at the Turnabout Tournament in Fairfield! Lauren Stevens and Mitchell Blade were named to the All-Tournament team. Lauren was the top performer of the tournament with 25 total tossups! Way to go!



Mrs. Gibson's microbiology students performed gram staining, an important diagnostic tool!




Cumberland Drama will hold its fundraiser breakfast and silent auction on Saturday, February 8, from 7-10 AM at the Toldeo Christian Church. Hope to see you there!


The Cumberland High School girls wrestlers traveled to Mt. Zion to compete at the IHSA regionals on Saturday, February 1. Congratulations to Natalie Beaumont and Summer Nichols on placing first in their division! They will compete at the IHSA sectionals on February 14 and 15 in Highland.


Congratulations to three Cumberland High School music students who were selected to participate in the 2025 Illinois Music Education Association All-State Music Festival in Peoria! Austin Becker was selected for All-State Chorus, Addison Johnson was selected for All-State Band, and Ani Edwards was selected for Honors Chorus. These students spent many hours in rehearsal and performed concerts with other high-achieving music students from all across the state.


Congratulations to the CHS cheer team on their first place finish during the LPC tournament cheer competition! The team scored a total of 93.5/100. Way to go!


Good luck to the varsity boys basketball team as they take on Okaw Valley tonight for the LPC tournament championship. Game time is 8 PM at Arcola. Go Pirates!

Last night, Cumberland High School had its first off-campus presentation where CEO, LIFT, CORE, and Health Occupations representatives came and spoke about their program. Congratulations to the CHS Lady Pirates basketball team on earning 2nd place in the LPC tournament! The team will be back in action tonight following the boys fresh/soph game. The Lady Pirates play Sullivan at 7:15.


The CHS Lady Pirates will play for the championship of the LPC conference tournament on Saturday, January 25 at 7 PM at Okaw Valley High School. Good luck to the players and coaches!

Game Club had its first meeting at CHS this week!


Mrs. Steber's physical science classes calculated the velocity of a ball over a series of distances to see if their hypotheses about its acceleration were correct.
