Due to possible weather conditions on Saturday, January 24, the high school girls National Trail Conference Basketball Tournament times have changed. We will post updates on other changes that are made as the weather develops on Saturday.

10:30 AM Consolation--Dieterich vs. Winner game 10
12:00 OM 3rd place--Altamont vs. Loser Game 11
1:30 PM 1st place--BSE vs. Winner Game 11

The CHS Pirates earned the #1 seed in the NTC Tournament. Their first game will be on Tuesday, January 27, at 6 PM against the winner of the CHBC/Neoga game. All games are being played at Altamont High School. Go Pirates! 🏴☠️

The CHS Lady Pirates won their first game of the NTC Tournament on Monday and will play St. Anthony in the semifinals on Thursday, January 22, at 7:30 PM in Beecher City! Good luck, Lady Pirates! 🏴☠️

Students in Mrs. Blade’s Inventors, Inventions, and Builds elective have been learning about Alexander Graham Bell and his inventions. Last week, they created telephone prototypes inspired by his work.





The F/S basketball game at Tri-County on January 29 has been cancelled.
Foods II students made pizza casseroles this week. Each group chose their favorite toppings like bacon, pepperoni, and various vegetables. They look delicious!





During National Passenger Safety Week, S.A.D.D. wants to remind you that it’s okay to speak up. Don’t worry about being a “back-seat driver” when it comes to saving lives.

Cumberland High School Art Club hosted its first Ceramics Workshop. Cumberland staff were invited to make charcuterie boards or chip and dip bowls and learn to throw on the wheel. The first class was a major success with a full house and a lot of great projects!




Gabby and Khloe spoke with students yesterday about their experiences in the Health Occupations class. Students interested in careers in the health field had the opportunity to attend, listen to their presentation, and ask questions. Gabby and Khloe shared how much they have enjoyed the class and the valuable experiences it has provided.

The CHS Lady Pirates basketball team is seeded 3rd and will play its first game in the NTC tournament against Neoga on Monday, January 19, at 2:30 PM at Beecher City. Good Luck, Lady Pirates! 🏴☠️

Cumberland High School competed in the Fairfield Turnabout Tournament on January 10. Cumberland fielded two teams in the tournament. The Cumberland B team placed first in the Bronze Bracket and received 9th overall. The Cumberland C team placed 4th in the Bronze Bracket and received 12th overall. Great work, teams! 🏴☠️

The Foods II classes reviewed kitchen equipment with a round of Pictionary! The students had a lot of fun as they put their skills to the test.

Honors Junior English students are gearing up to read The Crucible by exploring how hysteria has appeared throughout American history. Students are researching past crises to better understand how hysteria follows a formula of fear, implication, scapegoating, institutional action, and moral justification. This background will help make deeper connections as they begin the drama of the Salem Witch Trials.

The Lady Pirates varsity basketball team wrapped up a strong showing at the Dieterich Holiday Tournament on Monday, earning second place. Congratulations to Jude Miller and Alysa Dittamore on being selected to the All-Tournament Team! 🏴☠️
