Mrs. Roewe's Intermediate Algebra students put math to work by designing parabolic solar ovens using shoe boxes and tin foil. By identifying the focal points of their parabolas, they determined where food would heat up the fastest and hottest. They also connected their lesson to how satellites use parabolic shapes to create focal points like their ovens!

12/12 Athletics Update: The basketball games against Neoga at Lake Land College are ON for tonight. The JV game begins at 5PM, followed by the girls Varsity and then boys Varsity.
Cumberland CUSD #77 will be closed today, December 12, due to the road conditions. All after school events will be cancelled, as well.
Basketball fans, if you are going to Lake Land tomorrow night for the games, there are a few facility rules to keep in mind.
1. Children must be supervised at all times. Please ensure that younger students are seated with an adult and are not roaming the gym or hallways.
2. Please remain off the court after games. Street shoes are not allowed on the gym floor, and teams and officials need clear space to exit.
3. Lake Land staff are required to remain until the facility is cleared. To respect their time, we need everyone to exit promptly after the game concludes.
4. The gym should be completely cleared when the visiting team bus departs.

Students in Foods III made fettuccine alfredo with chicken. They sauteed the chicken breast pieces in olive oil and seasoning. The homemade sauce was made from heavy cream, minced garlic, butter, asiago, and parmesan cheese. Students grated their own cheese. They found out how delicious a homemade sauce can be!

Congratulations to Reed Miller and Cameron Roedl for being selected for the All-Tournament team of the 2025 Cumberland Thanksgiving Tournament!

Mr. Roedl's PE students tried the shuttle run today. In the run, the students start at the middle of two points, run to one end, run to the opposite side, and then run back to the center. The students try to better their time each run. The shuttle run measures the students' speed, agility, and cardiovascular endurance. These students were quick in today's run!

The band followed with three songs, featuring Sleigh Ride and All About Christmas. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season!

Cumberland High School’s Foods III class has constructed two gingerbread houses to showcase this year at Toledo’s Christmas events. Students worked in pairs to design their structure. They made the gingerbread dough and baked it. The houses were assembled with royal icing, then decorated with buttercream frosting. The students selected their theme and utilized candy and other food items to make their house unique. The Fortnite Nutcracker House was made by Logan Aaron and Peyton Groves. The Rose Quartz Cottage was made by Cameron Robbins and Shelby Schumacher.
CHS staff and students voted for their favorite gingerbread house, and the winner was The Rose Quartz Cottage!
