
The 2025 graduation date for Cumberland High School has been set for Sunday, May 18, beginning at 2:00 PM in the high school gym.

There is a meeting scheduled for the Cumberland High School clay target team on Sunday, January 19, starting at 2:00 PM at the Cumberland County Sportsman Club.

The Turnabout Tournament that the high school scholastic bowl team was to compete in this weekend (Jan. 11) at Fairfield has been cancelled due to weather. They are trying to find a new date for the tournament, and we will post when that information is available.

The F/S game at Paris tomorrow (1/9) will be played at Eveland Gym which is located at the old high school.

We are excited to have a second Shoe Tree distribution for our students again this year. If you are experiencing financial hardship, complete this form for qualifying students to receive a free pair of shoes. Shoes will be distributed by the school in mid-February. The normal Shoe Tree fall distribution is still being planned for the 25-26 school year. A form will be sent out in May for that Shoe Tree.

Cumberland schools will not be in session tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Tuesday’s scheduled extracurricular activities will be canceled or rescheduled.

The girls' basketball game tonight (1/3) vs. Windsor/Stew-Stras will be played at Windsor High School.

Congratulations to Alysa Dittamore and Jude Miller on being named to the 2024 Dieterich Holiday Tournament All-Tournament team!

The Varsity Boys Basketball team placed 1st in the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament with a 64-42 win over Windsor/Stew-Stras Saturday. Chase Stewart and Kelby Bierman were selected for the 1st Team All Tournament, and Zack Harmon was named 2nd Team All Tournament. Kelby Bierman also received the Defense Award. Congratulations to all!



We had a couple of visitors around the campus this afternoon to surprise the students as they left for the holiday break!


Foods I and Orientation to FACS students made a breakfast buffet yesterday. Students made buttermilk pancakes, bacon, eggs, and fresh fruit. It gave them energy to take on final exams!

The high school scholastic bowl team will have the following matches from the the SIU-C Scholastic Hi-Q competition aired on public television. Tune in to watch the team in action!

-March 2 at 5:30 PM - Cumberland vs. Mater Dei
-March 30 at 5:30 PM - Cumberland vs. Calloway County

Just like on the show Shark Tank, the Math Applications class presented their business ideas to the Sharks recently. Students used financial information to calculate annual revenue, expenses, EBIT, and business valuation. In their presentations, the Sharks and students conversed and made deals for financial backing in exchange for equity in the business!

It's Mega Night tonight! Come out to cheer on the girls varsity and boys JV/varsity as they take on Neoga. Boys JV tips off at 5 PM, girls varsity is at 6:30 PM, and boys varsity begins around 8 PM. Go Pirates!


Early dismissal reminder for next week: School will dismiss at 2 PM on Thursday, Dec. 19, and Friday, Dec. 20. There is no school from December 21 - January 3 for the holiday break.


The CHS Student Council visited the Greenup Nursing home yesterday to spread Christmas cheer! The students went Christmas caroling and handed out Christmas cards to the residents. The residents enjoyed the visitors and sang along with the caroling!



CHS semester exams are scheduled for Thursday, December 19, and Friday, December 20. School will dismiss at 2 PM on those two days.
