Updates about the school lunch and breakfast program for the 2022-2023 school year:
- The USDA’s “Free Meals For All” program that began two years ago has expired and regular prices will be charged this year. An article about the changes is linked to this post.
- Lunch will cost $2.70 and Breakfast will cost $1.25.
-Money can be added to your child’s account during online registration or by bringing a check to the school.

Amber Scales and Steve Powell presented a $7,000 check to the CUSD #77 Band program in honor of Terry Scales. The money was raised from the Terry Scales Memorial Benefit. Terry was a lifelong lover of music and is dearly missed. The money donated will be used to aid low income students in their band education. Welcome Cumberland Middle School Girls (6th, 7th or 8th grade athletes) to the Fall 2022 Softball Season. Our player/parent meeting will take place Monday, July 25th, 8:45 a.m before the first practice at the Toledo Legion fields. The first practice will be from 9-11 am on Monday, July 25. Please note that players will not be allowed to participate until they have a current physical on file with the school nurse. On Thursday, July 14th, Cumberland Middle School cross country coach, Mrs. Megan Walk, will hold a meeting at 6 PM at the Toledo Res to discuss the upcoming cross country season and sign up those wanting to participate. Any interested 6th, 7th, or 8th-grade boys or girls and their parents are encouraged to attend. Participants are reminded that they must have a current physical on file to begin practice. Any incoming 6th, 7th or 8th grade boy interested in playing middle school baseball this fall needs to attend an informational meeting on Monday, July 11, at 6:00 PM at the Toledo Christian Church. Cumberland Middle School is seeking applications for the positions of Head Middle School Girls Volleyball Coach and Assistant Middle School Girls Volleyball Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Interested applicants should email Mrs. Stacy Keyser, Principal and Athletic Director at skeyser@cusd77.org by Monday, July 11, 2022.
This is a reminder that there will be youth football sign-ups this coming Wednesday, June 15th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the elementary school cafeteria. Youth football will be available to any student that will be entering 3rd thru 8th grade for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. The registration fee will be $80. Incoming 3rd graders will have the option to play tackle or flag football.(Information on flag football will be given at the beginning of the upcoming school year). If your child is interested in participating in the youth football camp there will be information on getting them signed up for that at this time also. There will be an additional sign-up on Tuesday, June 21st from 6:00 - 7:30 PM in the elementary school cafeteria as well. If you have any questions you can contact Lucas Watkins at 217-714-1252.

Congratulations to all of the Cumberland Middle School track athletes who participated at the state track meet this past weekend! There were multiple medal winners, and the 7th grade boys finished 3rd overall as a team! In the 8th grade, Kade McMechan finished 5th in the discus, and Reid Carlen placed 3rd in the 100 and 8th in the 200. The 4x100 team of Elliot Dryden, Kaleb Bierman, Isaac Venatta and Reid Carlen finished 9th, while the 4x400 team of Kaleb Bierman, Logan Gerhardt, Cameron Roedl and Reid Carlen also finished 9th. In the 7th grade, Isaac Venatta placed 3rd in the shot put, 7th in the 400 and 9th in the discus. Cameron Roedl finished 2nd in both the 800 and mile run. It was a great state meet by all of the participants and they should be very proud of their accomplishments!!!

Toledo Spring Festival parade has been moved to Sunday, May 22, at 11 AM. The band will not be able to perform due to the change in date.
Early Dismissal
Cumberland Schools will participate in Hat Day and Purple Day on Monday, May 16, to raise money for the Lupus Society of Illinois and the Greenup Lupus Support Group. Students may wear a hat with a $1 donation.
The Middle School basketball cheer clinic and tryout dates have been set. The cheer clinic will be on May 4 from 3:30-5:00 PM. Tryouts are scheduled for May 6 from 3:30-5:00 PM. Contact Mrs. Scales for more information.

Congratulations to the Cumberland Middle School Scholastic Bowl team and coaches on their regional championship today at Marshall. They will play for the sectional championship on Monday, May 2. Time and location is still to be determined.

Congratulations to the 7th grade boys track team on their second place finish at a very competitive eight team invitational at Altamont on Friday, April 22. The 8th grade boys track team also finished 4th at this meet. The 8th grade boys 4 x 100 relay team of Elliot Dryden, Kaleb Bierman, Isaac Venatta, and Reid Carlen set a new school record by running 49.3 seconds. Reid Carlen also broke the 100 meet dash record by running 11.5 seconds. Congratulations!
