
Congratulations to Colby Roedl on placing 2nd at the LEIC Cross Country Meet yesterday! This past weekend he also placed 16th at the Monticello Invite. Lizzie Sudkamp, Paige Wolke, Eden Fitch, Audrey Edwards, Adam Wolke, and Clayton Shellenbarger ran new PRs. Way to go!

There will be no school on Friday, 10/11, for Teacher Institute Day and no school on Monday, 10/14, for Columbus Day.


Cumberland Middle School will hold a player/parent meeting on Thursday, October 10, at 4:45 PM in the grade school cafeteria. This meeting is open to any 7th or 8th grade boy and their parent/guardian who wishes to play basketball this year. Student-athletes must have a current physical on file prior to the first day of practice on Monday, October 21.

Cumberland Middle School held its second Lunch on the Lawn this afternoon. There was a great response to the event! Everyone enjoyed hanging out, talking, and having lunch together!











Cumberland Middle School placed 2nd out of 18 teams in the Junior Varsity Eco Meet Competition today! Congratulations!


The sixth grade science classes spent time in the science lab learning how to use microscopes this week!










The middle school cross country team competed at the Robinson Invitational. Colby Roedl placed third and Paige Wolke placed 36th. Colby, Paige, Marley Bierman, Katie Martin, and Audrey Edwards ran new PRs!

Congratulations to the October Raiders of the Month! These students were chosen based on always being prepared for class, following expectations, and having exemplary behavior. Thank you for being respectful, responsible, and reliable Raiders!

Cumberland Middle School will hold their end of season baseball awards on Thursday, October 3, at 2:40 PM in the new gym. Please have your baseball player return his yellow belt to Coach Miller on this date, as well. Parents wishing to attend should check in at the office prior to going to the gym for the awards.

Cumberland Middle School would like to invite 5th grade students and their parents/guardians to sign up for band on Tuesday, October 1, from 3:15-6:30 PM in the band room. Instrument purchase and rental will also be available at this time. If you are unable to attend this event or have further questions, please contact Mr. Ozier, band director, at bozier@cusd77.org.

After reading the novel Bridge to Terabithia, the fifth grade students wrote and performed Medieval times dialogue.



The Cumberland Middle School softball team will hold their end of season awards on Friday, October 11, at 5:30 PM in the grade school cafeteria. School issued items (helmet, bat bag, belt, and any other equipment) should be returned at this event. Please contact Coach Heinbaugh or Coach Millsap with any questions.

The middle school cross country team competed in their final home meet yesterday. The 8th graders were recognized at the start of the meet. Overall, Paige Wolke finished 13th, Jacob Osborne, 17th, Lizzie Sudkamp, 19th, and Ivy Brummer, 20th.
Paige Wolke, Eden Fitch, Ivy Brummer, Marley Bierman, Audrey Edwards, Aubrey Weaver, Grady Cash, Alan Phipps, and Collin Oakley had new PRs. Everyone ran a great race through the swampy conditions!

The boys' baseball team won last night 9-1 over Red Hill. They will play Marshall today at 4:30 in the semifinals of the Regional. The game will be played at the Toledo diamond.

The 7th grade students finished the book, The Outsiders, recently. Together, they are creating an Outsiders biography poster of the main characters.






The middle school XC team competed in the Olney Invite on Saturday, September 21. Colby Roedl took home 1st place and the girls team finished third overall. Other award winners include Paige Wolke (7th), Lizzie Sudkamp (12th), Ivy Brummer (16th), Eden Fitch (18th), Marley Bierman (21st), Jacob Osborne (22nd), Natalie Peters (24th), and Cameron Coleman (27th).

Good luck to the Raiders baseball team as they begin Regional play this week! The Raiders play Bridgeport Red Hill today at 4:30 at the Toledo diamond.

The 5th grade students visited the Toledo Courthouse this morning. They toured the building and learned about what goes on in the courthouse. Judge Braden spoke to the students about what happens during court proceedings. The students are currently studying about the parts of the government in their social studies classes.
