High school Fellowship of Christian Athletes met Thursday, October 27 with guest speakers Matt Bollant, EIU’s Women’s Basketball Coach, and Emily, a Forward on the team. Coach Ballant shared about a time when his faithfulness and self-control during a particularly difficult event resulted in a major blessing later on. “I tamed my tongue and didn’t respond in the flesh,” Coach explained.
He urged students to choose their friends wisely, stating their friends will either help or hinder their faith, and to listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction.
Emily shared about how she had worked through doubts to truly own her faith. She told students that reading her Bible daily and connecting regularly with other believers helps her through the challenges of being a college athlete, and she gave students some tips for sharing their faith with others.

From there, they studied the song line by line focusing on figurative language, and then made a guess as to the meaning of the song, its genre, and its tone. After researching, they discovered if their original guesses were correct.
