Those interested in joining the high school and middle school trap teams should plan to attend an informational meeting on Saturday, January 13, at 1:00 PM at Cumberland Sportsman Club.

Students in FACS classes donated money to purchase Christmas gifts for children who live in foster homes. Mrs. Thomas purchased ingredients for S'mores & students could pay to make one after they finished their final exam. All the money that was collected was used for the toys.
Santa checked in on one of our elementary classrooms today.

On January 5th the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) will recognize Cumberland High School as one of the few consolidated high schools that have surpassed the 1000 win mark for boys basketball. We would like to invite all past/present players, coaches, and fans to attend this event that will take place between the JV and Varsity games that evening.
Also, following this announcement we will recognize winter senior participates and their parents.

Last week in the library, the middle school students played a cup stacking game that tested their teamwork skills as well as their knowledge of library call numbers!
The elementary and middle school classes have decorated a Christmas tree for their grade. Now, we would like you to vote for your favorite tree! Click Like on the tree's picture to vote. There will be one elementary and one middle school winner. Voting ends next week!
Next week, the elementary and middle schools will have a Holiday Spirit Week! These are optional activities.
Today, the 7th grade class traveled to Carver Auditorium to watch a Peoria Rivermen hockey game. Mrs. Walsh dropped the ceremonial puck! Everyone had a great time!

This past Friday, the Middle School Kindness Ambassadors cleaned all the caps that were collected. Now, the caps go to a company to be recycled into a bench. This bench will be placed at the grade school in memory of Mike Oakley. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the cap collection!

The Cumberland Middle School Lady Raider Basketball Team will host their annual awards on Wednesday, December 20, at 5:30 PM in the grade/middle school cafeteria.
The EIU Jazz Lab Band stopped by this afternoon to play a collection of songs for the middle school and high school band students. The students enjoyed listening to the show and learning about the band.
The fifth grade science classes had their first dissection lab today. With the help of Kristi Shirley and Ag in the Classroom, the students used the dissection tools to learn all about the anatomy of a grasshopper. The classes enjoyed this hands-on activity!
The elementary and middle school bottle cap collection will end this Friday, 12/1. We have met our goal with the incredible support of the community. Our next step will be to organize the caps for the bench production. Thanks to everyone who helped us accomplish this step of our goal!
